Guided by Connection and Compassion

"Healing happens when people feel safe enough to be seen, heard, and valued. My heart is to walk alongside others with empathy and authenticity, creating a space where laughter, vulnerability, and quiet reflection can lead to meaningful change." - Danaé Behr, MFT-T

Danaé began her path to becoming a therapist in the fifth grade, when she first sought support to navigate early challenges with depression, anxiety, and trauma. Her time with her own therapist revealed the importance of feeling met with empathy, authenticity, and care, which inspired her own commitment to providing a steady, empathetic presence to others, especially when life feels overwhelming.

After witnessing the ongoing impact of the pandemic on individuals, marriages, and families, Danaé recognized a need to respond in a more meaningful way. In 2022, Danaé decided to pursue her Master's in the Marriage and Family Therapy program at the University of Akron, where she was drawn to the program’s systemic perspective.

Marriage and Family Therapists are trained to view individuals not as isolated problems to "fix," but as interconnected parts of a larger relational system—impacted by their families, communities, and broader environments.

In other words, clients are not simply a diagnosis, but are complex and unique individuals shaped by their life experiences.

Grounded in the principles of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Danaé holds the understanding that healing happens through safe, responsive, and emotionally connected relationships. EFT supports individuals, couples, and families in identifying and expressing vulnerable emotions, deepening understanding, and creating new patterns of support, emotional health, and connection. â€‹

When she’s not meeting with clients, Danaé enjoys spending time with her husband of 18 years and three kids—cherishing the everyday moments that come with family life. She also finds joy in nature—whether she’s kayaking, camping, hiking, or simply soaking up the fresh air, it is where she feels most grounded and inspired.
